The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cebu's Negosyo Center in collaboration with Startup Island Cebu co-funded local startup with the help of the Cebu business community who became angel investors.
It was the first attempt in partnership with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) conducted a seminar on Angel Investing, providing an understanding of how angel investors identify early stage companies. This is a key need to make the business community understand the dynamics of startups and angel investing to help them invest in the Philippine startup community.

"We target those entrepreneurs who are ready for this bidding. We want them to be more open to sharing their pain and pitfalls," said Aljon, noting that a startup without a high-risk, high-reward mindset is a red flag.
"The business community can provide mentorship for our startups or leaders in their respective industries," said Aljon. "It's an open door for these startups."
